Integrated photonics researcher
M.S. student in Electrical and Electronic Engineering, University of Chittagong, working on photonic integrated circuits and nanophotonics.
I am Sakin Ahmed, an Electrical and Electronic Engineering graduate from the University of Chittagong, Bangladesh, with a strong research interest in integrated photonics, silicon photonics, and nonlinear optical devices. My work focuses on exploring innovative photonic architectures for efficient light generation, manipulation, and signal processing on integrated platforms.
My research interests include photonic integrated circuits (PICs), nonlinear optics, micro-ring resonators, lithium niobate on insulator (LNOI), subwavelength grating structures, and wavelength-division multiplexing. I work with electromagnetic simulation and photonic design tools to investigate device performance, optimize optical characteristics, and develop compact, high-performance photonic components.
Throughout my academic journey, I have participated in research presentations and technical competitions, including winning the poster presentation and CAD design categories at EEE Fest 2025. I also presented my research on silicon subwavelength grating mode-pass filters at the 6th IEEE International Conference on Telecommunications and Photonics (ICTP 2025) at BUET.
I am passionate about bridging theoretical concepts, numerical simulations, and practical photonic device engineering. My long-term goal is to contribute to cutting-edge research in integrated optics and next-generation photonic technologies while pursuing opportunities for advanced research and international academic collaboration.
Research philosophy: Advancing photonic technologies through innovative device design, rigorous simulation, and a continuous commitment to scientific discovery.
